Redlining in Ann Arbor, MI
Reveal News has done a good investigation on modern redlining from data gathered from the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. This is what they do report for the Ann Arbor area.
Reveal didn’t find clear evidence of discrimination in the ANN ARBOR, MI metro area. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but it didn’t show up through our statistical tests. There weren’t enough conventional loan applications in this metro area from Native American applicants to draw a conclusion. For Asian, black and Latino applicants, there were enough applications, but other statistical factors made it difficult to draw a conclusion.
